CERN in Focus: Good for awareness.

CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research. Its business is fundamental physics, finding out what the Universe is made of and how it works. At CERN, the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments are used to study the basic constituents of matter — the fundamental particles. By studying what happens when these particles collide, physicists learn about the laws of Nature.

Here is a brief video explaining Cern in 3 min.

  1. There is no doubt that physics is the father or grandfather of all sciences. And physical scientists like physicists have done tremendous work to understand the laws of nature. There are still many things that we need to understand.

I haven't gone through the details about this recent project. This is for understanding the properties of subatomic particles and scientists are hoping to understand something about the universe through this experiment.

Billions of dollars is spent for this single project and thousands of scientists from around the globe are working on it. This is good. At least they (Europeans) are spending money for science not for war like America. American professors are out of money recent years because all money is going to Iraq and Afghanistan. This is one part.

In another part, sometime I think, this money is kind of extra money. I would rather use to educate people (student) in developing countries with science education.

Nice video, explaining well the mission.
